Blame this flash on kuru for making me feel insecure about my disability. -hides in shame-
Nar I'm quite happy with who I am and this is a nice little attempt at explaining why :)

Nice work Mitch. I don't mean to encourage your distractions, so they may be called from my point of view. But really well crafted. Even if you just threw it together.
I had to watch it 3 times because I caught a glimpse of the message within it the first time through. That is a compliment on your instinct for timing.
I found it a really powerful piece. You may not know what you can stir up in people. I think you have the makings of a great artist. But I wonder how to help make it so. I'm going to start with a bit of encouragement.
You have rebelliousness against the main stream of structured teaching. "Sit down and work Mitch!" must be ringing in your ears, but thankfully you are not arrogant about it. I am definitely not going to encourage that trait as one of your teachers, but would say also, finding your own method of learning is a revelation in itself, when you recognise it.
Unfortunately I worry that if you can't get down to work in a timely manner in a loosely structured environment like the animation course, I don't know how you will achieve it in a paid animation job at a studio situation. But you seem to work things out in your own way.
You display splashes of deep thinking and expression, when you choose subjects that mean something to you. As well as showing a bunch of maturing skills.
Yeah, nice work. Now... Sit down and animate (something for your major project) Mitch!
From Ian on the 27th May 2009
"You need to apreciate mitch that there are depths of character that you don't even see at the moment. You are one of the very few students I have ever known who has a tendancy to produce to much, always flying onto the next thing, and sometimes missing subtleties that others catch ... I think Kenny's advice is tailor made for you, try stick with something and taking it to the next level. Not advice I give often, because I'm usually worried about how much a student is managing to produce, but something you will need to face up to if your gona kick it up a notch (as is required) ;)"
the terrible part to this is I never saw that comment from Ian.
I have some thinking to do.
and then some animation to work on.
Hi Mitch,
love your humour and your comic timing in all of your animation. You are really doing YOUR animation thing with flair. I have a friend who is colour-blind and the big plus is that he sees everything better tonally when he paints. That's important too when using colour. Yes he's an artist who also makes art-films, (sort of satirical ones). He just uses the colours straight from the tube. Being able to only see tonally and with a minimum of colour, works in his favour and his work jumps out at you because of the depth of his dark colours and the brillance of the light colours he uses. Colours reflect or absorb light to varying degrees. So if you can think of colours tonally like any great comic book artist does, you can apply that thinking to your images. Also cool colours recede and warm colours jump out at you. Sometimes there are cool shades of reds in shadows and warm blues in highlights, not just the generalization that " blues recede and reds come forward", so it really matters to be able to recognise these tonal depths and lights in all colours regardless of what colour they are. You and my old mate, Kieran Boland (no relation)(he has a website under that name) have a distinct advantage over others in this sense. I'm impressed by your creativity and you are going to be one to watch! This work is great! This is where art comes from: your unique experience, from your heart, from wanting to communicate your experience with integrity. People respond to this integrity. This is clever, is a fabulous play on the eyechart of course, and what a message!!! (I suggest you show Jane as she would be really impressed).(And yes I agree with yor message!)(And listen to Frank and Ian (me too...).
